Intelligent Equipment and Systems

1. Program Strength

The Intelligent Equipment and Systems major was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2020. It is a broad-caliber distinctive program oriented toward the national strategies of “Artificial Intelligence” and “New Engineering Education.” The program fully leverages Beijing Jiaotong University’s strengths in “Smart Transportation” and is supported by doctoral/master’s programs and post-doctoral research stations in both “Transportation Information Engineering & Control” and “Control Science and Engineering.” It boasts nationally recognized leading talents, distinguished teaching masters, outstanding young scholars, and innovative research teams, and has established multiple national-level and provincial/ministerial-level research and teaching platforms. The program is dedicated to cultivating outstanding interdisciplinary talents for cutting-edge fields in national intelligent systems.

2. Training Objectives and Characteristics

The program integrates automation, artificial intelligence, and big data, emphasizing “integration of control and optimization, mastery of both software and hardware, equal emphasis on strong and weak electricity, and distinctive features in intelligent mobility.” It aims to produce a new generation of information-intelligent engineering talents who master intelligent theory, equipment R&D, complex system design, and professional certification capabilities.

3. Core Courses

Analog and Digital Electronics, Signals and Systems, Circuits, Principles of Automatic Control, Sensors, Microcontrollers, Principles of Computers and Interface Technology, Digital Signal Processing, Intelligent Unmanned Systems, Data Mining and Analysis, Motors and Motion Control, Robotics Technology, Autonomous Navigation and Positioning, Principles of Artificial Intelligence, C Language, Python, etc.

4. Further Study and Employment

Destination data for the first graduating class are shown in the table below. For the second cohort, the postgraduate recommendation rate exceeds 30%, with some students admitted to top universities such as Southern University of Science and Technology and Beijing Institute of Technology; several students have already received admission offers from Columbia University (USA). Graduates have broad career prospects and may engage in R&D work in automation, artificial intelligence, and big data fields, or pursue master’s/doctoral studies domestically or abroad in areas such as control and transportation, electronic and electrical engineering, and intelligent systems.
