Rail Transit Signaling and Control


1. Program Strength

This major traces its history back to 1909 and has a profound academic foundation. In 2010, it was included in the first batch of China's national "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" and passed the initial evaluation. In 2017, it passed the engineering education accreditation for automation-related majors. In 2019, it was simultaneously selected as one of the first national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and a Beijing municipal key first-class major. In the SoftSci China University Rankings, the "Rail Transit Signaling and Control" major has consistently ranked No. 1 nationwide. The program emphasizes the integration of science/education with industry/education, boasts national-level practical teaching platforms ranging from fundamental engineering to specialized professional training, and relies on the national key discipline of "Transportation Information Engineering and Control" as well as the country's only series of national-level innovation platforms in the field of rail transit control. It has cultivated a large number of top industry talents, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

2. Training Objectives and Characteristics

The program aims to cultivate high-caliber talents who master core technologies in rail transit signaling, possess an international perspective, innovative spirit, and strong practical abilities. Graduates are competent to engage in research, design, development, manufacturing, operation, and management work in rail transit and various related industry sectors.

3. Core Courses

Circuits, Signals and Systems, Analog and Digital Electronic Technology, Principles of Computers and Interface Technology; Principles of Automatic Control, Digital Signal Processing, Electromagnetic Field Theory and Applications, Fundamentals of Rail Transit Signaling, System Reliability and Safety, Train Operation Control Technology, Station Signal Automatic Control, etc.

4. Further Study and Employment

Graduates work in a wide range of fields, including the National Railway Group, metro operating companies, communication and signaling technology R&D and manufacturing enterprises, internet companies, high-tech manufacturing enterprises, government departments and public institutions, as well as research institutes. They may engage in research, design, development, manufacturing, operation, and management positions.
