National University of Singapore (NUS) 3+1+1 Joint Bachelor-Master Program – Call for Applications


1Partner University Introduction

The National University of Singapore (NUS), founded in 1905 and located in the beautiful Garden City of Singapore, is the undisputed top-tier, world-class university in Singapore. NUS delivers high-quality education and cutting-edge research within a global framework while maintaining a distinctive Asian perspective and strengths. In the 2025 QS World University Rankings, NUS is ranked 8th globally and has been Asia’s No. 1 university for seven consecutive years. Its Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is ranked 6th worldwide.

The NUS (Suzhou) Research Institute (NUSRI) is the first research institute in China independently established and operated by a foreign university, representing a further deepening of scientific, technological and educational cooperation between China and Singapore.

2Program Overview

The NUS 3+1+1 Joint Bachelor-Master Program leverages the complementary strengths of Chinese and Singaporean partners to jointly cultivate world-class, practice-oriented top innovative talents. The program is open to junior-year (Year 3) students from domestic partner universities. It provides a fully English-taught curriculum and authentic NUS academic experience, helping students gradually adapt to overseas study and transition smoothly into NUS’s rigorous academic rhythm. Years 1–3: Complete undergraduate studies at home university.

Year 4: Study for one year at NUS (Suzhou) Research Institute (bridging curriculum). Upon satisfactory completion and meeting the home university’s graduation and degree requirements, students will be awarded the bachelor’s degree and diploma from their home university.

Year 5: If admitted to an NUS master’s program (subject to meeting NUS postgraduate admission criteria), students proceed to the NUS Singapore campus for one-year master’s coursework. Upon fulfilling all NUS degree requirements, students will be awarded the Master’s degree from the National University of Singapore.

3Eligibility Requirements

Grade: Current junior (Year 3) students from the School of Automation and Intelligence.

Major: Open to all majors within the School of Automation and Intelligence.

Academic: Overall average 82/100 (based on percentage grades shown on official transcript); final admission is determined by the NUS departmental admission committee through comprehensive evaluation (grades + interview + other strengths), merit-based selection.

English proficiencyTOEFL 85 (iBT) or IELTS 6.0 (no sub-score requirement; score banding not accepted). Applicants without valid TOEFL/IELTS scores may first apply using CET-4/6 results and submit TOEFL/IELTS later.

4Period for Application

Applications for this cycle are open now and close on March 28, 2025.

5Required Application Materials

Color scanned copies (Chinese & English versions) of official transcripts for the first five semesters. If the transcript does not show a percentage average, an additional official percentage GPA certificate is required.

Color scanned copy of TOEFL or IELTS score report. If TOEFL/IELTS not yet available, upload color scanned copy of CET-4/6 score report instead.

6Application Procedure

By 24:00 on March 26, 2025, email the completed “Student Information Registration Form for 3+1+1 Program” (Attachment 1) to Ms. Wu at the School of Automation and Intelligence (10264@bjtu.edu.cn). Email subject and attachment filename must be: “311申报 + Full Name + Student ID + Major”. Applications not submitted as required will not be processed.

Before March 28, 2025, register a personal account on the NUS (Suzhou) Research Institute official application portal and upload all materials listed in section (5): http://application.nusri.cn/NusriEdu/register/registerAccount

NUSRI will contact shortlisted candidates for interviews (exact time and format will be notified individually by phone). Admission results and the final list of accepted students will be announced after comprehensive evaluation.
