School of Automation and Intelligence Successfully Hosts IEEE International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Applications


From August 6–7, 2025, the School of Automation and Intelligence at Beijing Jiaotong University successfully held the IEEE International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Applications at the Beijing Friendship Hotel.

This symposium is the flagship conference of the IEEE China Council. The 2025 edition was jointly sponsored by the IEEE China Council, the School of Automation and Intelligence at Beijing Jiaotong University, the School of Artificial Intelligence at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the IEEE R10 AdHoc China Promotion Committee, the IEEE R10 Industrial Relations Committee, the IEEE R10 Conference Committee, and the Beijing Association for Science and Technology Women in Science and Technology Group. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Wen Yinghong, Party Secretary of the School of Automation and Intelligence, Beijing Jiaotong University.




The event brought together leading experts, scholars, and industry elites from academia, research institutes, and industry to engage in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies and applications, fostering diverse intellectual exchange and cross-sector collaboration.

Professors Michael Ong and Bernard Lim chaired the plenary sessions and the industry-academia-research cooperation sub-forum, respectively. Student volunteers from the School of Automation and Intelligence and Zhan Tianyou College provided outstanding conference support.




Keynote speakers included Kathleen Kramer, Hua Ning, Toshio Fukuda, and Dong Jing, who shared insights into IEEE’s global role and strategic vision in AI development. Mr. Zhou Mengqi congratulated IEEE on its 140th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the IEEE Beijing Section, and offered a forward-looking vision for IEEE’s development in China over the next decade.

Background Information

The IEEE China Council was established in June 2007 and is one of six councils under IEEE Region 10 (Asia-Pacific). IEEE, the world’s largest non-profit professional technical organization, has more than 430,000 members in over 150 countries. IEEE publishes approximately 30% of the world’s literature in electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, and communications, and has developed more than 1,300 industry standards in fields including space, computing, telecommunications, biomedicine, power, and consumer electronics.
